Capabilities: Microsensor Data Fusion
Microsensors based on MEMS and Nanotechnology enable sensing of phenomena in situations
previously not possible. Many industries and applications will benefit by using this technology
to optimize existing operations and to develop wholly new applications. SilkSpeed excels at
collaborating with its clients to understand their needs, identifying opportunities to exploit
microsensing and developing novel and practical solutions using microsensors.
Finding the opportunities exposed by microsensors and the methods of exploiting their
information is an area of active research by SilkSpeed. SilkSpeed's practice in this area includes:

Discovering and characterizing phenomena uniquely observable by microsensors;

Developing novel biologically-inspired analytic techniques;

Fusing heterogeneous microsensor data; and

Developing remote, distributed and low power microsensor systems.
SilkSpeed's research has led in the direction of automated microsensor phenomena
analysis. We have applied micro-powered microsensors to characterize, map and
monitor environments that typically are not candidates for close-in observation.
SilkSpeed has developed biologically-inspired algorithms and systems that have qualitative
advantages over traditional signal processing methodologies.
